Robert Taft - My Choice West, Based at St Martins.
My role as Homecare Area Manger for ‘MyChoice-West’ means that I have to manage, oversee and ensure that we are providing, and all our clients are receiving, only the very best of care and appropriate support at all times and in all situations . Care that is ‘person centred’ and ‘person focussed’, with consistency but without bias . Along side of that I do have to ensure that the welfare of both our clients and our Company is optimised because there always has to be proper equilibrium for the whole system to work. One cannot work or function effectively without the other and this means constant ‘fine tuning and adjustments’ which satisfy the needs of our clients and the obligations of us as a care provider. Creating a happy and healthy working environment is also a key part to my role whereby I try to smooth out any ‘wrinkles’, solve problems and make sure that all my departments are operating effectively and efficiently. Its a role that I truly enjoy, its a job that enables me to try and ‘make a positive difference’ to all our clients as well as our teams of dedicated staff. The support I receive from the community carers right through to all senior management at Head office is phenomenal, its a privilege to work for such a dedicated and supportive organisation and a greater privilege to support and help them in all their endeavours. Outside of all this in my ‘free-time’ world I do enjoy visiting historical buildings/places. When visiting such areas you can sense and feel the atmosphere of those times which stimulates an enquiring mind. Its now been a long time but I did spend some considerable time in Amateur Dramatics, playing some lead roles and also some very minor roles. Whilst undertaking that ‘pastime’ I actually wrote, produced and directed two amateur shows, one of which won me an award from ‘Calor Gas’......great times! Now, if not out visiting places, I enjoy photography which I can do whilst going for nice long walks. My garden is my biggest love and I spend many hours attempting to understand what to plant where, when and how. They say a real garden is never truly finished...thats a very real and true statement that could be said about mine. When the nights are dark, the wind is howling and the rain is pouring ( a typical summers day) there is nothing nicer that a large mug of strong tea and a good TV documentary or old fashioned British comedy to relax away the tensions of the day.
