Cornwall Care is a registered charity supported by a board of Non Executive Directors. These members of the board give their time to offer Cornwall Care expertise from across many sectors.

The Senior Management Team lead the day to day functions and strategic direction of the company including operations, finance, human resources, marketing and customer service.

douglaswebb_292 Douglas Webb - Chief Executive
Douglas joined Cornwall Care in 2003. He achieved his Registered General Nurse qualification at The Royal Cornwall School of Nursing and then pursued a nursing career from Cornwall to the Shetland Islands. Douglas gained private sector experience firstly with Community Hospitals Group plc and then BUPA before joining a national charity providing services and accommodation for older people based in London.

paulturner_167 Paul Turner – Director of Finance
Paul began his career in Central London where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1993 while working for Moore Stephens, a medium sized firm of Chartered Accountants. After qualifying, Paul moved into industry working firstly for Maritime Overseas Corporation, a US shipping company and then Simon Storage Group, a subsidiary of a listed UK industrial services group, where he was Group Accountant responsible for the finances of head office and seven business units.

In 1997, Paul moved to Hertfordshire where he worked as Director of Finance for ABC (Audit Bureau of Circulations), an organisation in the publishing/advertising sector. During his time at ABC, Paul was responsible for the finance, IT and operations departments as well as being treasurer/secretary for the International Federation of ABC’s. In 2001, Paul successfully completed his Masters Degree (MBA) at Durham University Business School.

In 2005, Paul moved to Cornwall where he joined Cornwall Care as Director of Finance. Paul’s role involves responsibility for finance, ICT, company secretarial and administration issues.

tracienorth_167 Tracie North – Director of Operations and Quality.
Tracie North joined Cornwall Care in July 2005. Tracie is a qualified nurse who has experience in midwifery, general medical nursing and infection control. Following many years in clinical care delivery Tracie commenced working in service redesign and education and training within the NHS. Recently Tracie worked as the Modernisation Manager with Health and Social Services helping to design and deliver new services in Cornwall.

alexwedlock_292 Alex Wedlock - Customer Service Manager
Alex joined Cornwall Care in April 2007 as PA to the Chief Executive. Due to her extensive experience in Customer Relations she was soon promoted to the position of Customer Service Manager. Alex now manages the administrative function for Head Office ensuring consistency in all company paperwork. She is also responsible for the implementation and management of the company customer service strategy.

tracey_flower__finance_manager_167 Tracey Flower – Financial Manager

Tracey has managed the finance dept since August 2001 having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1998. She has previously worked as the management accountant for St Ives plc and the logistics accountant at Imerys.
Prior to qualifying as an accountant she gained an HND in Hotel, Catering and Institution Management and spent time working in management in the catering industry.

stephenbull_167 Stephen Bull – Operations and Quality Manager
Stephen worked with Cornwall County Council as Principal Officer (Residential and Daycare Services) from 1985, having previously been a home manager in another local authority. He has also managed social work teams in both community and hospital settings. He transferred to Cornwall Care as Operations Manager when the company was formed in 1996.
He is a member of IOSH and is the company’s ‘competent person’ for health and safety. He is social work qualified, and has a Diploma in Management Studies.

nicolaredfearn_167 Nicola Redfearn – Operations and Quality Manager
Nicola worked with Cornwall County Council from 1982 until Cornwall Care was formed in 1996. She transferred to Cornwall Care as a Home Manager in 1999 and was promoted to Group Manager and then Regional Manager in 2004. She is currently Operations and Quality Manager. Nicola is qualified in Social Work and has a Certificate in Management with Exeter University.

maggiewherry_167 Maggie Wherry – Operations and Quality Manager
Maggie has 26 years experience in care ranging from being a Home Help to a qualified Social Worker in the Penzance area. Maggie has worked at most of the homes in the West region including a stint as deputy officer at Blackwood House, Camborne and Manager at Trewartha in Carbis Bay.

gerrycantwell_167 Gerry Cantwell – Clinical Lead
Before coming to Cornwall Care , Gerry, a Registered Mental Nurse, worked in the NHS in various practice and management roles. His role is to introduce an element of nursing into a number of our homes in order to ensure the continuation of care for service users who develop nursing needs.


William John William John - Head of Property
William returns to Cornwall after 25 years, in that time he served twelve years in the Royal Navy as a Marine Engineer. On leaving he chose to pursue a career in property and read Estate Management at Oxford Brookes University and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1999.
William has secured planning permissions and undertaken numerous project management tasks for various F1 teams, been responsible for the design and development of commercial space throughout Britain and more recently was employed as a Development Manager at Midas Homes.
He is responsible for developing and implementing the organization's property strategy, overseeing the delivery of New Care Homes and ensuring the current Homes are properly maintained.
William enjoys sailing and is a keen supporter of the Cornish Pirates.


Bridget Varney Bridget Varney - Community Services Manager
Bridget worked with Cornwall County Council from 1987 until Cornwall Care was set up in 1996. She has 22 years experience in care and has held a number of positions in the social care field including the role of Home Manager. She became the homecare services manager in June 2006; responsible for the development of the company’s homecare services. Bridget holds the ILM Diploma in Leadership and management.


Angie Cavanagh Angie Cavanagh - Human Resources Advisor
Angie joined Cornwall Care as a Finance Administrator in July 2005. In February 2006 she was promoted to PA to the Chief Executive. She received further promotion following the successful completion of her CPP Certificate to Human Resources Advisor in March 2007.

The HR department at Cornwall Care handles recruitment and personnel issues as well as contributing to broader organisation development objectives such as the Authentic Leadership Programme and Make Someone's Day award scheme.
